Inspiration

We thought of it as a blank canvas and used an overall visually-clean composition for the interior and display units so as to create balance with Lion Labs' merchandise. Designing retail stores requires you to work around elevating the brand's goods and in this case, the design elements are kept subtle so as not to overpower, but instead complement, the real stars of the show. Other than clothing, accessories, and random paraphernalia typical of a "headshop," the store also houses artworks from different artists and will hold exhibits from time to time. Some collector items can also be spotted inside. Definitely an interesting space to check out!

To start off, our favorite material used in this project is the ribbed glass that can be found on the glass display that houses collectible glass art pieces. To further highlight it, we placed lighting at the back to have that futuristic effect.

Keeping our concept minimal but distinct, some of our key elements in designing the store are the plays in our signages! To easily locate the store from the outside, we have a wooden signage for an unrefined charm and a spray-painted main logo wall as an eye-catcher. You'll also find something as subtle as a stainless metal cut-out of the store name embedded into the entry steps that might call for a quick shoefie (shoe selfie!).

For the cashier area, only a neon light shaped into their lion logo on the wall works as an accent branding (to keep things different and fresh, we decided to place their tradename on the foot of the cashier unit instead and used lighted cut-out acrylic letters).

Lastly, our painted pegs on the wall spell out "The Lion Gallery" at the gallery display area not just as a signage label, but as an art piece on its own for a little optical interest!
