Project location: Maple Place, Acacia Estates, Taguig City, Philippines
Floor Area: 49.5 square meters

Inspiration

Our clients wanted a Modern Scandinavian look to their unit. So we focused on woods and whites to achieve this vibe. We also made sure that the unit would not only be modern and cozy, but also spacious and functional.

Living and Dining

Wood and white made the space modern yet cozy, at the same time accommodating the client’s request for a clean and spacious look. Custom-made pieces were combined with ready-made furniture for a more budget-friendly but personalized approach.

Kitchen

To keep with the theme of wood and white and have a more fluid look, we changed the laminates of the kitchen base cabinets to a lighter shade of wood. We went with white for the overhead cabinets above which we also added more storage space. ⁣⁣

The existing granite countertop was replaced with white reconstituted marble which is a cost-effective alternative to quartz. ⁣⁣

Our favorite addition to the kitchen is the herringbone pattern backsplash in bluish-gray which adds texture and softens the stark look of the space.⁣⁣

Bathroom

To achieve the “hotel look and feel” that the client asked for, we went less cozy and more modern, as can be seen in the sleek vessel basin and faucet, and warm lighting. The theme of white and wood continues in this space through the white countertop and wood accent tiles. ⁣

To maximize the space and give more storage, the mirrors double as a vanity cabinet.⁣

Home Office

In this home office, we see the modern and the cozy in the two types of wallpaper. By the work station, we placed one with a design of light gray concrete, while the opposite wall’s is fabric-textured.⁣⁣

For a truly functional space, we added more storage which not only keeps the owners’ work stuff but also their personal items, such as clothing.⁣⁣

Master Bedroom

We sought to bring space, sunshine, and storage in this 8-sqm space primarily by placing the bed on top of a custom-built platform bed which also provides additional storage underneath and at the side.

We also wanted to enhance the natural light of the bedroom by placing a full-length mirror across the window, which also makes the space seem bigger. We chose lighting fixtures that give the same warm tones as the sun for the room to have a similar cozy glow at night.

The quirky wall art breaks the straight lines of the shelves and bed frame.

Balcony

The balcony provides a refreshing break for the clients and their pets. Adding the grass turf, the dogs can have a small area where they can run around and play, while the clients can lounge and relax on the sofa by the makeshift deck.

Memorable Experiences

One of our memorable experiences during the whole process was seeing the design come to life, little by little. From the walls being painted to the cabinets being constructed and finally being able to style the place to make it a livable home.

Another memorable experience would be the continuous delays because of the ECQs and MECQs. It really posed a challenge for us, the contractor, and the client, since we all wanted the project to hopefully finish on time.
